Gujarat BJP MLA from Surat Pravin Ghoghari told The Tribune on phone that the entire state top party brass, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Water Resources Minister CR Paatil was at Bardoli attending the event of Chouhan — Viksit Krishi Sankalp Yatra — when the news of the tragedy came.
"The CM received a call from Home minister Amit Shah and immediately rushed to Ahmedabad. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi also rushed to Ahmedabad to coordinate relief and rescue operations," Ghoghari said.
Asked if former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani was on board the ill-fated flight, Ghoghari answered in the negative.
He said there was no confirmation to this effect yet.
The entire top BJP leadership of Gujarat has been told to be on the spot to help in whatever way they can.
Paatil and Chouhan are also expected to reach Ahmedabad soon.
