Himachal, Punjab top-performing states in startup rankings for 2022

Himachal Pradesh has been recognised as the Best Performer state under the State’s Startup Ranking 2022 in the B category (having population less than one crore). It is the topmost recognition while competing with states like Gujarat and Karnataka.
Punjab emerged among the top performers after Maharashtra and Odisha in startups rankings of states with more than one crore population, while J&K was named among states with best emerging ecosystems in startup rankings.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Central Government organised the State’s Startup Ranking-2022 in New Delhi today for the grouping of states in various categories based upon the stage of ecosystem developed. The officers of the state, who had done commendable work in propagating start-ups, were felicitated.
Director, Industries, Rakesh Kumar Prajapati received the certificate of appreciation awarded to the state Department of Industries in New Delhi.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu lauded the efforts of the department and said, “Himachal Pradesh aspires to become a leader in building a start-up ecosystem not only in the country but also across the globe. The state is committed to enhancing the pace of industrialisation as well as improving the start-up ecosystem through various initiatives for generating employment opportunities.”
Sukhu said that the state government would come out with a new policy having special provisions for rural-based start-ups and women-led start-ups. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan also appreciated the department and the startup team. “The state was applauded for the initiatives taken to build a strong ecosystem, building an interactive start-up portal for all enablers of the ecosystem, including incubators, accelerators, mentors, and start-ups,” he added.
