India bloc meeting today to press for Parl session
In their first meeting after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, opposition INDIA bloc leaders will gather here tomorrow and deliberate over presenting a joint appeal before the government for calling a special session of Parliament.
The meeting would take place at the Constitution Club and several opposition parties, including the Congress, Trinamool, RJD and the DMK, had confirmed their participation, sources said.
Opposition parties maintained they had unconditionally backed the government since the terror attack on April 22. “We have unconditionally supported the government against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. We want a healthy discussion for the nation’s betterment and don’t want to score any brownie points,” said a senior Congress leader.
Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and a Trinamool delegation recently visited J&K’s Poonch and Rajouri, the two border areas worst hit by Pakistani shelling.
In May, Trinamool MPs organised their parliamentary party meeting at the Central Hall of the old Parliament building and passed a resolution urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a special session of Parliament to inform people about the steps taken to combat terrorism after the Pahalgam attack.
