A Dubai-bound IndiGo flight from Surat carrying around 150 passengers was forced to divert to Ahmedabad on Thursday morning following a technical glitch mid-air.

The aircraft, operating as flight 6E 1507, had taken off from Surat airport at about 9.30 a.m but was rerouted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, where it landed safely at around 11 am, officials confirmed.

Airport authorities stressed that the diversion was precautionary and not treated as an emergency. “The flight from Surat to Dubai was diverted due to a technical problem and landed safely here with nearly 150 passengers on board. Another aircraft was later arranged, which departed for Dubai around 1.45 pm. The diverted plane is under inspection by engineers," said an official.

IndiGo too issued a statement acknowledging the incident and assuring passengers of safety. A spokesperson said the airline arranged an alternative aircraft to ensure the journey was completed, with the flight eventually reaching Dubai at 1.35 pm local time. The airline added that meals and refreshments were provided at Ahmedabad during the delay.

“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers but their safety and security always remain our highest priority,” the spokesperson said.
