Indian Intelligence agencies have received inputs about a possible terror attack on the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, apparently by the Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP).

According to Intelligence sources, the threat was flagged through agencies in India from across the border, though there is no direct danger to Indian interests, as the Indian team is playing all its matches in Dubai. However, the situation is being closely monitored from New Delhi.

The inputs suggest ISKP may attempt a terror attack or the kidnapping of foreign nationals, though no concrete leads have emerged from Pakistani intelligence.

ISKP operates in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Reports from Pakistan indicate the group is specifically targeting Chinese and Arab nationals and has been conducting surveillance at ports, airports, offices and residential areas frequented by them.

In response, security forces have been deployed at all match venues in Pakistan —Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi — to ensure the safety of players and officials.
