A university official said the professor’s services had been terminated without retirement benefits. “He is accused in multiple other complaints of sexual misconduct. The JNU received a formal complaint from the Japanese embassy against the professor’s inappropriate remarks against one of its officials. The Internal Complaints Committee of the JNU found him guilty and terminated his services,” the official added.

Vice Chancellor Sulantishree Pandit said, “We have zero tolerance towards such complaints. It is a warning to sexual predators and corrupt staff.”

Two other non-teaching staff and a professor of the university have been suspended in a corruption case.
