JD (U) seeks action against BJP spokesperson
Citing alleged adverse remarks by BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla against an AAP candidate from Purvanchal, the JD(U) on Thursday asked ally BJP to take action against Poonawalla.
In a statement here, JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said: "Poonawalla has made a mistake. His comments have caused deep displeasure among people from Purvanchal. The JD(U) seeks action from the BJP's leadership against Poonawalla for his comments."
Poonawalla had in a TV debate taken a jibe at AAP MLA Rituraj Jha's over his surname, a move AAP termed as "abusive." Poonawalla had reacted after a similar name related jibe Jha took on him.
Poonawalla says he did not abuse anyone and accused AAP of spreading "lies".
BJP's Purvanchali face and North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari had also earlier condemned the remarks by his party colleague saying both he and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal should apologise for making unsavoury remarks against Purvanchalis.
