Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday appointed Subhankar Sarkar as the new president of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee, replacing Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

A press note issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) expressed appreciation for Chowdhury’s contributions during his tenure as the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president. Sarkar, who was previously serving as the AICC secretary, has been relieved of his current position to take on this new role.

In addition to this, Kharge also appointed MK Bhardwaj and Bhanu Mahajan as the acting working presidents of the Congress unit in Jammu & Kashmir, where Assembly elections are currently underway.
