Ladakh herders stopped by PLA soldiers near LAC

Jammu, January 30

A group of Pashmina goat herders confronted the Chinese soldiers along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh when they were stopped by the latter recently. The incident took place in Kakjung area of Nyoma along the LAC on January 2. The Chinese soldiers also used at least 4-5 vehicles to encircle them and blew sirens.

Sharing a video of the incident, Konchok Stanzin, councillor from Chushul, stated on X, “…seems it is a never-ending process due to different lines of perceptions. But I salute our nomads, who always stand to protect our land and stand as the second guardian force of the nation.”

He further wrote, “No doubt our forces are always with civilians, resolving the grazing issues with the PLA.”

The incident reportedly took place near patrolling points 35 and 36. In the purported video, both the parties — herders and soldiers from the People’s Liberation Army — are seen videographing each other. The Chinese soldiers are also seen blocking the camera of the herders.

There was no confirmation of the incident by the Army or the local administration.
