RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Wednesday said the Sangh, like the police and the Army, was a protective shield for India, besides being a guarantor of “protection of democracy and security”.

Speaking at an RSS event in Jaisalmer, Hosabale recalled the quotes of retired Supreme Court judge KT Thomas and said, “Describing the RSS, former Supreme Court judge KT Thomas had said: ‘Sangh is a guarantor of protection of democracy and of security in the country. Like the police forces and the Army, Sangh is the protective shield of the nation.’ Former judge KT Thomas’ words aptly describe Sangh’s role.” Thomas had made these remarks while addressing an RSS event in Kottayam in 2018. Hosabale, the second in command in RSS after chief Mohan Bhagwat also said RSS was not a mere organisation. “It is a campaign for national resurgence and all round revival. It is a major movement of national life,” he said. The RSS functionary paid tributes to Deen Dyal Upadhyay, Sangh ideologue whose birth anniversary falls today. Hosabale said the goal of taking RSS branches across villages was near.
