The incident took place on July 5 when Major Rohit, posted at Military Hospital Jhansi, was en route to his hometown Hyderabad on leave. At the station, he spotted a woman in severe distress near the lift area; she had fallen from a wheelchair and was in advanced labour.

Without hesitation, the Major conducted a makeshift delivery on the railway platform, using only basic, improvised items: a towel, a knife and hair clips. The newborn was unresponsive at birth, but Major Rohit successfully resuscitated the infant.

Both mother and baby were stabilised and later shifted to a government hospital for further care.
