Modi-gifted golden crown stolen from Bangladesh temple

A gold-plated crown gifted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple at Satkhira in Bangladesh in 2021 has been stolen.

The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh has expressed “deep concern” over the incident.

In a post on X, the High Commission in Dhaka said, “We have seen reports of theft of the crown gifted by PM Modi to Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple (Satkhira) in 2021. We urge the Bangladesh government to investigate the theft, recover the crown and take action against perpetrators.”

Sources said it had been conveyed to Dhaka that the Indian side was “deeply disturbed” by the incident. The temple is one the Hindu “shaktipeeths”.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
