Welcoming Dr Amarasuriya to India, Modi said her visit would impart fresh momentum to the “historic and multi-faceted” ties between the two neighbours.

He recalled his own state visit to Sri Lanka in April, during which he held extensive discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, covering all areas of bilateral cooperation.

Both leaders reviewed ongoing development partnerships and agreed to further enhance collaboration in emerging sectors such as digital innovation and skill development. Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to working closely with Sri Lanka in the shared journey of growth and regional prosperity.

Conveying his warm wishes to Dissanayake, the Prime Minister said he looked forward to continued engagement with the Sri Lankan leadership to advance the long-standing partnership between the two countries.

Officials said Amarasuriya’s visit reflects the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two neighbours and underscores the deep and multi-faceted partnership anchored in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ and ‘MAHASAGAR Vision’ policies.

The visit is expected to add further momentum to the growing cooperation between New Delhi and Colombo in areas of connectivity, economic recovery and regional stability.
