Modi to address armed forces’ top brass on Sept 15

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the top brass of the armed forces on September 15 at the “Combined Commanders’ Conference” in Kolkata — the first structured interaction of all three Services with the PM after Operation Sindoor.

The conference, described by the Ministry of Defence as the apex-level brainstorming forum of the armed forces, will bring together the nation’s top civil and military leadership to deliberate on reforms, transformation and operational preparedness.

Besides the Chiefs of the Army, Navy and the Air Force, all regional commanders of the three Services are expected to attend. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and other senior officials from various ministries are also likely to be present.

According to the Defence Ministry, the conference will focus on reforms, transformation and change, and operational preparedness. It will highlight the armed forces’ commitment to institutional reforms, deeper integration, technological modernisation and sustaining multi-domain operational readiness.

In keeping with the tradition of inclusive engagement, the conference will also feature interactive sessions with officers and personnel of various ranks, ensuring that field-level perspectives feed into strategic-level discussions.
