President Droupadi Murmu will be on a two-day visit to Manipur on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, upon arrival in Imphal, the President will be accorded a guard of honour. Subsequently, she will visit the historic Mapal Kangjeibung to witness a polo exhibition match.

Later in the evening, the President will attend a civic reception to be hosted by the state government in her honour at the City Convention Centre, Imphal. She will also lay foundation stones and inaugurate various developmental projects on the occasion.

On December 12, the President will visit the Nupee Lal Memorial complex at Imphal and pay respects to the brave women warriors of Manipur. Later, at Senapati, she will address a public function, during which she will lay foundation stones and inaugurate various projects for the district.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
