Navy showcases operational prowess in Odisha
The Indian Navy on Wednesday displayed its operational prowess and capabilities through an ‘operational demonstration’ covering naval operations by ships, submarines, aircraft, marine commandos and Indian Army personnel at the Blue Flag Beach, Puri, Odisha.
The demonstration marked Navy Day, which commemorates ‘Operation Trident’ that led to the audacious attack on Karachi harbour during the Indo-Pak War in 1971.
Chief guest for the event, President Droupadi Murmu said, “India’s geography has endowed us with all the elements necessary to be a great maritime nation.”
The Navy at the operational demonstration aimed to bring to focus the Navy’s rich maritime history and demonstrated the valour and courage of its personnel and their resolve to safeguard national maritime interests “anytime, anywhere, anyhow”.
The event also showcased the Indian Navy’s state-of-the-art ships and aircraft. As many as 15 warships, besides aircraft like the MiG 29K fighter jets and the submarine hunting MH 60R helicopters, along with combat reconnaissance by the Marine Commandos of the Indian Navy took part in the event.
Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said, “Over the past year, several achievements have elevated Indian Navy’s stature as we have been deployed across oceans.”
