Israel on Tuesday said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to have “full confidence” in India’s security under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that both sides are already working to finalise new dates for the Israeli leader’s visit to New Delhi.

“Israel’s bond with India, and between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Prime Minister @narendramodi, is very strong,” the Israeli PMO said.

The statement comes amid media reports claiming Netanyahu had postponed his planned visit later this year following fresh threat assessments after the November 10 suicide bombing near the Red Fort. The Indian government has strongly rejected any such linkage.

“Media reports in this regard are misleading and factually incorrect. Drawing linkages with the Delhi blast is irresponsible. We would urge caution against such misleading news stories,” a senior government official told The Tribune.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
