From June next year, cigarette packets will carry new pictorial warnings to enhance public awareness of severe health risks posed by tobacco consumption. The Centre has introduced amended rules in this regard. “The packets will contain the words, ‘tobacco causes painful death' in white colour on a red background. The words and figures ‘Quit today, call 1800-11-2356' shall appear in white font on a black background,” the notification said.
