NIA arrests 7th accused in Red Fort blast case

The National Investigation Agency on Wednesday morning arrested the seventh accused in the case regarding recent blast near the Red Fort in Delhi.The arrested accused -- identified as a resident of the Dhauj area in Faridabad, Soyab, has been arrested for allegedly harbouring terrorist Umer-Un-Nabi immediately before the Delhi blast.

Later in the day, a Delhi court sent Soyab to 10-day custody of the National Investigation Agency, while another accused Amir Rashid Ali was sent to a further seven-day remand of the agency. On November 17, Ali was sent to a 10-day NIA custody, which ended on Wednesday.

Investigations by the anti-terror agency have revealed that Soyab had also provided logistical support to Umer before the November 10 car bombing.

The NIA had earlier arrested six other key aides of Umer.

On November 20, the agency had arrested the prime accused involved in the November 10 blast.

The accused arrested so far include Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama (J&K), Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag (J&K), Dr Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow (UP), and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian (J&K).

They had all played a key role in the terror attack that killed 13 persons and left many others injured, as per the NIA investigations.

Earlier, the NIA had arrested two other accused -- Amir Rashid Ali, in whose name the car used in the blast was registered, and Jasir Bilal Wani (aka Danish), who had provided technical aid to the terrorist involved in the deadly attack.

Meanwhile, Muzammil Shakeel Ganai was taken on November 24 to Al-Falah University campus in Faridabad by the NIA to recreate the sequence of events, which led to the blast incident.
