The searches were conducted on the premises of suspects linked to US-based terrorist Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Bathinda and Ferozepur districts in Punjab, Lakhimpur Kheri district in UP and Rudrapur district in Uttarakhand, besides Chandigarh.

Incriminating material, including mobiles/digital devices and documents, was seized during the searches.

The case, registered on the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, relates to the hurling of a hand grenade at a house in Sector 10-D, Chandigarh, on September 9, 2024, by Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, who were arrested.

The NIA probe so far exposed a conspiracy by Pakistan-based Harwinder Singh Sandhu, alias Rinda, and Passia, both BKI terrorists, to attack a retired police officer. The two terrorists had raised a module to carry out the terror attack and had provided funds, weapons and other logistical support to on-ground operatives.
