The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, has retained its dominance in the latest edition of the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) as the number one institution of the country in the overall category for the sixth consecutive year and in the engineering category for the ninth consecutive year.

IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur are at the third, fourth and the fifth spots respectively. IIT Kharagpur got the sixth place and IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati are at eighth and ninth spots, respectively. Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, topped the universities category for the ninth consecutive year. It also occupied the second position in the overall category. Jawaharlal Nehru University got the tenth spot in the overall category. In the medical category, AIIMS Delhi has secured top position and PGIMER, Chandigarh, got the second spot. — TNS
