Pause in India-Pakistan hostilities to continue: Army

Amid reports suggesting that the “pause in hostilities” between India and Pakistan was to end on Sunday, the Army has said that there is “no expiry date” specified in the decision taken after the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries spoke on May 12.

India’s DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai and his Pakistani counterpart Maj Gen Kashif Abdullah had spoken on May 12. The talks had happened after the Pakistani side called up India on May 10, seeking a “pause” in hostilities.

The Army referred to the reports and media queries whether there would be a “continuation to the pause in hostilities” saying that “as decided in the DGMOs’ interaction of May 12, there is no expiry date to it”.

Also, the Army laid to rest the speculation that the two DGMOs are slated to speak again on Sunday, saying “No DGMO talks are scheduled for Sunday.” 

On May 12, the two DGMOs spoke and the Army had then said that the two sides agreed on “continuing the commitment” that both sides “must not fire a single shot”.
