Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which would come into effect from July 1, had provisions which would protect doctors from violence.

“Doctors don’t have the intent to kill but treat to save lives. There are three provisions under BNS which will protect the doctors,” he said.

Days after a doctor was attacked with a sickle in Nashik, the medical associations demanded a law to protect doctors and put an end to such a violence.
