Pakistan violated understanding reached on stopping firings: Foreign Secretary Misri
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday said Pakistan is violating understanding reached on stopping the firings.
“This is breach of understanding,” Misri said on the violations of the decision to stop military action.
He said the Indian armed forces are giving appropriate response to the Pakistani actions.
“We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps,” Misri said, adding that the armed forces had been given instruction to deal strongly with any instances of violations by Pakistan.Hours after Pakistan reneged on the understanding of pausing hostilities with India, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Saturday night that instructions have been given to armed forces to deal 'strongly' with any such instances of violations.
Misri in late night response at a media briefing said "in the past few hours Pakistan has carried out repeated violations of understanding arrived at to pause the hostilities".
The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations, and we take very, very serious notice of these violations, the Foreign Secretary said.
The understanding to pause hostilities was announced around 6 PM on Saturday in New Delhi by Misri and simultaneously through a statement by the US State Department posted on its website.
Misri said " For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan. "
This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The Armed forces have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders along the along the international border, as well as the Line of Control.
India also called upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation.
This evening, there was a massive attack by Pakistan across Punjab, Rajasthan and J&K using artillery guns, armed drones missiles, a senior government official said.
This evening India announced a pause in hostilities after the DGMO of Pak called his Indian counterpart seeking end to hostilities.
After the announcement Sources in India has countered the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio saying "There is no decision to hold talks on any other issue at any other place".
"I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site.", Rubio posted on X.
Earlier US President Donald Trump posted on X that India and Pakistan have agreed to ceasefire.
Trump said "After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a 'full and immediate ceasefire'.
Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter, said Trump.
giving an overview US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also posted on X saying over the past 48 hours Vice President JD Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik, respectively.
