“As you may be aware that being registered in the electoral roll of more than one constituency is a penal offence under the RPI Act-1950. You are, therefore, directed to show cause as to why action should not be taken against you as per the provisions of the said Act,” read the notice issued by the District Election
Office (DEO) of New Delhi.
Khera is registered in the electoral roll of New Delhi constituency (with residential address of Kaka Nagar) as well as in that of Jangpura constituency (with residential address of Nizamuddin East).
Reacting to the notice, Khera accused the EC of bias in favour of the ruling regime. “Yet, another confirmation of how the EC functions to support the ruling regime. While our complaints of ‘vote theft’ are disregarded, the EC rushes to act against the Opposition members,” the Congress leader said in a post on X.
Khera also questioned the EC’s inaction on alleged fake voters in Karnataka’s Mahadevapura constituency and vowed to keep exposing “wrong-doings” in the Bihar SIR and other election processes.
“Why did the EC not issue a single notice to the 1 lakh fake voters of Mahadevapura constituency, that were exposed by RahulGandhi?” he asked.
