The four Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots who are set to be astronauts on board the Gaganyaan spacecraft scheduled for launch in 2024–25 were trained in Russia for 13 months.

India and Moscow have a long running space collaboration dating back to the times of the Soviet Union.

The training for four pilots has been conducted on ground, in air and in simulation facilities that mimic the pressures of space.
