External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attitude has transformed India.

While addressing the Indian diaspora during an opening ceremony of Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha’s Bhubaneshwar, he said India has changed its attitude from ‘chalta hai’ (it’s okay) to ‘badal sakta hai’ (can transform) and ‘hoga kaisee nahin’ (why cannot it happen).

Jaishankar said while development in itself is a very complex task, it becomes much easier “when we are confident that nothing is beyond us.”

“I still recall sometime ago an observation by a famous Indian badminton player PV Sindhu on why PM Modi is a youth icon. She summed it up as his attitude which moved the nation from ‘chalta hai’ to ‘badal sakta hai’ to ‘hoga kaisee nahin’,” he said.

Jaishankar added India showed its “resilience” during the Covid-19 pandemic period when predictions were made that it would go down.

“The very country that was predicted to go under ended up supplying vaccines and medicines to the entire world,” he said.

Jaishankar also highlighted India’s growing prowess in the space sector and digital technology.

He further highlighted the governments several public welfare schemes, including ‘Beti Bachao’ and ‘Swachh Bharat’.

Jaishankar also said efforts have been made to enable youth to achieve their full potential for the country’s development.

On the occasion, he urged the Indian diaspora to promote India as a tourist destination in their foreign lands.
