Each gift, rooted deeply in Indian tradition, was chosen to reflect the spirit of friendship, craftsmanship, and shared heritage between India and Ghana.
Prime Minister Modi gifted a pair of Bidriware flower vases to Ghanaian President John Mahama. Hailing from Bidar, Karnataka, these vases are emblematic of India’s famed metal inlay craft known for its deep black finish and shimmering silver patterns. Made from a zinc-copper alloy and adorned with intricate floral engravings, the vases were handcrafted by master artisans using a centuries-old technique.
To Ghana’s First Lady, Lordina Mahama, PM Modi gifted a silver filigree work purse from Cuttack, Odisha. This centuries-old Tarakasi craft is known for its intricate silver filigree work perfected over 500 years.
Ghana’s Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, was presented with a luxurious Kashmiri Pashmina shawl.
To the Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament, PM Modi gifted a miniature elephant Ambawari crafted in West Bengal. Inspired by India’s royal processions, the piece features an elephant carrying an ornate howdah. Made from ethical synthetic ivory, the miniature is a tribute to regal Indian pageantry and detailed craftsmanship.
