Pondicherry University has achieved a significant milestone in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, securing the 470th position with an overall score of 30.7, among 1,526 institutions from 48 Asian countries. This marks a commendable improvement from its previous position in the 501–520 band in the 2025 rankings, underscoring the University’s sustained progress in academic excellence, research output, and international engagement. The University’s overall score witnessed a substantial increase—from 18.8 in 2025 to 30.7 in 2026—reflecting notable improvements across multiple performance indicators. In the Southern Asia region, Pondicherry University advanced from rank 140 to 121, demonstrating its growing academic prominence.

The Academic Reputation score rose from 16.4 to 22.9, signifying increased recognition of the University’s scholarly excellence. The Employer Reputation improved from 9.2 to 13.3, reflecting the rising demand for its graduates in the job market. A substantial enhancement in the Faculty–Student Ratio, from 8.5 to 15.3, highlights the University’s commitment to providing quality education.

A particularly noteworthy achievement was the sharp rise in the International Research Network score—from 26.3 to 77.6—indicating a major expansion in global research collaborations.

According to a press release, Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice-Chancellor, Pondicherry University, expressed his delight at this achievement and extended heartfelt congratulations to the faculty members, officers, staff, research scholars and students.
