President hails implementation of UCC in Uttarakhand

        President Droupadi Murmu on Monday praised the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill, in line with Article 44 of the Constitution, which envisions UCC for all citizens.
She said this while addressing the Assembly in Dehradun on the silver jubilee of the state’s formation, commending the state’s progress over the past 25 years.

        She also appreciated the Assembly’s track record of passing over 550 Bills inspired by transparency and social justice, including the Uttarakhand Lokayukta Bill, the Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Bill, and the Anti-Copying Bill.
Murmu reminded legislators that as elected representatives, they form the most crucial link between citizens and the government.
