Expressing solidarity over the loss of lives in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, Qatar on Tuesday extended full support to India in its fight against terrorism. Without naming Pakistan, Qatar said the country backs New Delhi in “all its actions to bring the perpetrators to justice” involved in the loss of lives in the “cross-border terror attack” in Pahalgam.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal informed, "In a telephonic conversation with PM Narendra Modi today, the Emir of the State of Qatar, HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani conveyed condolences and solidarity with the people of India at the loss of lives in the Pahalgam terror attack."

"He expressed full support in India’s fight against terrorism and all its actions to bring the perpetrators to justice," he added.

The MEA spokesperson added, "PM thanked HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani for the clear message of solidarity and support. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to deepen India-Qatar strategic partnership and to implement the decisions taken during the state visit of the Emir earlier this year."

Qatar holds immense significance for India’s geopolitical strategy considering Taliban’s political office is located in the country’s capital Doha, while it also serves as an abode for several Taliban leaders. For any outreach to Taliban establishment, way for India goes through Qatar.
