A day ahead of the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) national session in Gujarat, former Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi joined National Students Union of India (NSUI) in-charge and former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar during his ongoing padyatra in Bihar on Monday.

The Congress national leadership will be in on Tuesday and Wednesday for the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting and AICC session, which will be held at the Sardar Patel National Memorial and the Riverfront Event Centre, respectively.

Ahead of the march, Rahul posted on social media, saying, “Be it the Champaran Satyagraha or the revolution for social justice – Bihar has always taken concrete steps against injustice. Today, that history calls again – against attacks on the Constitution, against favouritism and discrimination, and in support of economic and social justice. Join me in Patna today at the Constitution Honor Conference.”

On Sunday, he had announced in Hindi, “I am coming to Begusarai to join the padyatra, which highlights the perennial problem of unemployment and migration. Wear a white shirt and join me in the movement to expose the government’s failure on jobs and migration.”

This is Rahul’s third visit to poll-bound Bihar since January.

Earlier today, he landed at Patna airport and proceeded to Begusarai to join Kanhaiya, who has been leading the foot march since March 16. The padyatra has covered several hundred kilometres across Bihar, raising the issue of jobs and migration among youth.
