Ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to New York later this month, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will begin his three-day US trip next week.

In a first foreign visit as LoP, Rahul will hold interactions in Washington DC and Dallas, including at the University of Texas, said Sam Pitroda, chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress.

In a video statement, Pitroda shared details of Rahul’s visit. “After Rahul became the Leader of the Opposition, the Indian Overseas Congress has been bombarded with requests from Indian diaspora, diplomats, academicians, businessmen, leaders, international media and others for interactions with him,” Pitroda said. Sharing details of Rahul’s programme, he said: “He will be in Dallas on September 8 and Washington DC on September 9 and 10.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
