Rallies and demonstrations demanding justice for the RG Kar hospital's trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered while on duty last month, rocked Kolkata on Sunday.

With placards in their hands, retired Army officials marched from Jadavpur 8B Bus Stand to Golpark in south Kolkata amid rains.

In Wellington, the central part of the city, former students of Calcutta Girls' High School marched in a rally. Similarly, hundreds of nurses held a rally at Karunamoyee in Salt Lake, seeking safety at workplace.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
