The government on Wednesday appointed Rohit Rathish, a 2006-batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service, as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Seychelles.

Rathish is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. He is expected to take up his new assignment shortly. Seychelles is a key maritime partner for India in the Indian Ocean Region, with cooperation spanning defence and people-to-people ties.
