Ferozepur and Moga districts in Punjab have been selected for the Aspirational Districts Programme of the Centre for “enhancing infrastructure, urban development and community services”. This was stated by MoS, Statistics and Programme Implementation, Rao Inderjit Singh, in reply to a question by Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi in the Lok Sabha.

Punjab’s renewable energy generation up

The renewable energy generation in Punjab has been recorded at 8,798.81 million units in 2023-2024 as per the Central Electricity Authority data, said Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik, in reply to a question by Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu. The state produced 7,846.01million units in 2019-2020.

Jalandhar, Amritsar part of freight corridor

The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor from Ludhiana to Sonnagar is well-connected for both passenger and freight movements with industrial areas of Jalandhar and Amritsar, said Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, in reply to a question by AAP MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer.  The corridor carried 46,800 freight trains from April 1 till November.

No separate budget for environmental research

There is no separate budget specifically for environmental research in the Ministry of Environment and Science and the Ministry of Science and Technology, said Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh, in reply to the question by Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi.
