None of the industries are discharging their effluents into the ground through boring as per the record of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) said Minister for State for Jal Shakti CR Patil in his reply to a question by Congress Lok Sabha MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday. Punjab has only 16 approved Tourism Service Providers’ said Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat in reply to a question by MP Sant Balbir Singh in the Rajya Sabha. Neighbouring state Haryana has 92 and Himachal Pradesh only 14. The reply had no data on the unregistered tourism service operators.

Haryana tops in road accidents in region

As many as 48,326 people died in road accidents in Haryana between 2013 and 2022 said the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, in reply to a question by the AAP MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer in the Lok Sabha. At least, 46,150 died in Punjab and 11,154 in Himachal Pradesh during the same period.

Two stretches of Ghaggar identified as polluted

Two stretches of the Ghaggar, flowing through Punjab and parts of Haryana, have been identified as polluted, said the Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, in reply to a question by the Haryana MP Kumari Selja.
