The Election Commission (EC) on Monday issued a show-cause notice to West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar for his alleged remarks on the national emblem and the West Bengal Police.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) had complained against the leader to the poll body on November 9.

Sukanta Majumdar was asked to submit his response to the show-cause notice by the evening of November 11 itself.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
