The Muslim side has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court’s order upholding the maintainability of suits related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute in Mathura. A single-judge Bench had on August 1 dismissed the Muslim side’s plea challenging the maintainability of 18 suits filed on behalf of the deity and Hindu worshippers and ruled that the “religious character” of Shahi Idgah needed to be determined.
