Wong's introductory visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

This marks Wong’s first trip to India since assuming office.

Wong, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation that includes Cabinet ministers and senior officials, is expected to engage in a packed schedule.

On September 4, he will hold bilateral talks with PM Modi, with discussions likely to cover economic cooperation, regional security, and emerging global challenges.

He will also call on President Droupadi Murmu and meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar along with other senior leaders.

India and Singapore share a long-standing strategic partnership, strengthened further during PM Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024, when ties were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Officials said the trip is expected to reaffirm both sides’ commitment to deepening collaboration under India’s ‘Act East’ policy.

The two Prime Ministers will review the breadth of bilateral cooperation—ranging from trade and investment to digital innovation and defence—and chart a roadmap for future engagement. They are also set to exchange views on key regional and international issues of mutual interest.
