SpiceJet flight to Patna returns to Delhi after suspected technical glitch

A Patna-bound SpiceJet flight was forced to return to Delhi shortly after takeoff on Thursday after the crew suspected a technical glitch mid-air, officials said.

The Boeing 737-8A aircraft, which had departed from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in the morning, was diverted back to the capital minutes into the flight after the cockpit crew observed irregular indications in the system. The pilots alerted the Air Traffic Control and sought priority landing clearance as a precautionary measure.

The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers were deboarded without incident. “The Boeing 737-8A aircraft operating the Delhi-Patna flight returned to Delhi after the crew suspected a technical issue. The aircraft has been grounded for a detailed inspection. Checks are currently underway, and an alternate flight is being arranged for the affected passengers,” SpiceJet said in a statement.

According to airline sources, engineers are conducting a thorough examination to identify the cause of the suspected fault. Passengers were provided refreshments and assistance at the terminal while waiting for the replacement aircraft. No injuries or safety concerns were reported.
