State mourning on April 26 to mark Pope Francis' funeral

The National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout India on all buildings and there will be no official entertainment

The government has announced a day-long mourning on April 26 to mark the funeral of Pope Francis.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday, it was informed that state mourning shall be observed on April 26, and the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout India on all buildings where it is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment.

The government had earlier announced a three-day state mourning as a mark of respect on the passing away of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Two days’ state mourning was observed on April 22 and 23 and it was announced earlier that a day-long state mourning will also be held on the day of Pope's funeral.
