The Election Commission’s order of February 7 allotting ‘Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar’ as the party name for the Sharad Pawar faction will continue till further orders, the Supreme Court said on Monday.

A Bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice KV Viswanathan issued a notice to the Ajit Pawar-led faction of Nationalist Congress Party on Sharad Pawar’s petition against the February 6 order of Election Commission recognising the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister-led group as the real NCP.

“We would like to examine the matter,” the Bench said, giving liberty to Sharad Pawar to move the EC for allocation of the party symbol. It directed the EC to allot a symbol to Pawar-led NCP within a week of filing an application.
