The Ministry of Defence (MoD) will undertake a drive to plant 15 lakh trees across the country to mark Independence Day.

The plantation drive is a part of the ‘A Tree in the Name of Mother campaign’, and will be conducted through the three services, and associated organisations such as DRDO, defence public sector undertakings, NCC, Sainik Schools and ordnance factories.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5.
