Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to take stock of the situation following a devastating cloudburst in the Dharali region of Uttarkashi district.

More than 50 people are reportedly missing after the cloudburst triggered a landslide in Dharali village, causing significant damage and prompting an urgent response from central and state authorities.

Officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed that teams from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been directed to reach the affected area immediately to assist in rescue and relief operations.

Local authorities are currently working on ground to evaluate the extent of the damage and providing emergency aid to those affected. Details on casualties and infrastructural damage are still awaited as the situation unfolds.

Meanwhile, an ITBP official informed that a 16-member team has arrived at the site to assist in rescue operations.
