The Centre has assigned Vitul Kumar, a 1993-batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, to officiate charge as Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) upon superannuation of the incumbent Anish Dayal Singh on December 31.

According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday, Kumar, who is currently special DG in CRPF, has been given the officiating charge till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

In September this year, the Appointments Committee of Cabinet had appointed Kumar as special DG in CRPF.

He was earlier an additional DG in the force. Kumar will superanuate on August 31, 2028.
