"What kind of judge are you?" BJP attacks Reddy for meeting fodder scam convict Lalu

On the eve of the vice presidential election, the ruling BJP attacked Opposition nominee and former judge of the Supreme Court B. Sudarshan Reddy asking why he met Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been convicted in fodder scam.

Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters today, senior spokesperson of the party and former Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad asked Reddy, what kind of a judge he was.

"What kind of a judge are you to talk about seeking votes in the vice presidential election in the name of saving the soul of the nation and meeting Lalu Yadav, convicted in the fodder scam? This is hypocrisy. Please do not talk of saving the soul of the nation," Prasad said, attacking Sudarshan Reddy.

BJP leader Amit Malviya also attacked Reddy saying Reddy, former Supreme Court judge and INDI Alliance’s joint candidate, recently met fodder scam convict Lalu Prasad, who isn’t even a Member of Parliament and has no vote in the VP electoral college.

"This isn’t just terrible optics, it’s a shocking statement on probity in public life by someone aspiring for a high constitutional office. What’s even more telling is the silence of the “usual suspects” — retired judges and self-proclaimed custodians of constitutional morality. Their hypocrisy stands exposed," Malviya said.

Elections for the post of the second highest constitutional office of the country, the vice president of India, will be held here on Tuesday.

Members of Parliament of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha form the electoral college for the election.
