Moments after Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Jahawarlal Nehru of compromising the spirit of Vande Mataram to appease the Muslim League, the Congress hit back asking which leaders praised MA Jinnah.

"JL Nehru is being accused of appeasement. But will the PM — the Master Distorian — answer: Which Indian leader formed a coalition in Bengal in the early 1940s with the person who moved the Pakistan resolution in Lahore in March 1940? It was Syama Prasad Mookerjee," Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said.

Ramesh went on to ask PM Modi which Indian leader applauded Jinnah in Karachi in June 2005?

"It was LK Advani. And which Indian leader praised Jinnah in his book 2009? It was Jaswant Singh," Ramesh said in initial Congress remarks on PM's anti Nehru remarks in the Lok Sabha today.
