India on Tuesday inaugurated 12 community development projects in Mauritius and said it looked forward to launching a satellite for the island nation. A sum of Rs 20 crore was sanctioned in January this year by Narendra Modi-led government for the satellite.

EAM S Jaishankar, who is on two-day visit to Mauritius, met its PM Pravind Jugnauth and said 12 infrastructure projects were inaugurated. With this, 37 of the 96 community projects had become operational. India also assured Mauritius of the support on regaining control of the Chagos islands.
