However, sources on the Indian side claimed that so far nothing is fixed on meeting Trump. He is a candidate in US elections and so far a meeting is ‘not on the cards’.

In February 2020, when Trump visited India, Modi had joined in his public engagement in Ahmedabad. The US has a large Gujarati diaspora.

Trump, last night, speaking at a town hall meeting in Michigan said Modi will meet him next week when he is in the US. The Republican presidential candidate said, “He (Modi) happens to be coming to meet me next week, and Modi, he’s fantastic. I mean, fantastic man. A lot of these leaders are fantastic.”
